Professor Keith Dickinson - Independent Consultant

Keith Dickinson is Emeritus Professor of Transportation at Edinburgh Napier University, where he was formerly Assistant Principal. He has over 25 years' experience in academic management, research and teaching. In his previous posts at the university, Head of the Department of Civil & Transportation Engineering and Dean of the Faculty of Engineering, he was instrumental in establishing Edinburgh Napier's Transport Research Institute (TRI). Keith has served on numerous national bodies and was a UK RAE Panel Member (UoA 28 - Civil Engineering - Transport Expert) in 1996 and 2001. He retains a broad research interest in road traffic management and control, road safety, appraisal of transport schemes and pedestrian issues. Over recent years, Keith has travelled widely in China and currently contributes to the development, management and delivery of an MSc programme in Transportation Engineering and Planning, awarded by the University of Southampton and delivered in China in partnership with Beijing Jiaotong University. He also has a part-time appointment (3 months pa) as Associate President of Liaoning Institute of Technology (LIT), Jinzhou, northeast China.

Charles Hammond - Forth Ports plc

Mr Hammond is currently Group Chief Executive of Forth Ports PLC, a listed company which owns and operates six ports in Scotland in the Forth and Tay estuaries and also London's major port at Tilbury in Essex. Forth Ports handle over 50m. tonnes of cargo and therefore have a fundamental interest in most regional and national issues affecting transport of goods by sea, rail and road. The firm also has a large property development arm which is regenerating non operational land on Edinburgh's waterfront and at Grangemouth and Dundee. Road transport and public transport issues such as the tram system are considered to be of great importance to the company. Forth Ports have a particular interest in coastal and European feeder shipping and developing hub and spoke networks with continental ports.

Mr Hammond has been with Forth Ports since 1989 and became CEO in 2001. Prior to that, he ran Tilbury for 6 years and before that was commercial director. Mr Hammond has degrees in law from Scotland and Canada and practiced law for a short period of time in the 1980s.

Douglas Hyslop - Scottish Enterprise

Douglas Hyslop is a Project Manager at Scottish Enterprise, where he is responsible for strategy development for the transport sector, within the Priority Industries Directorate.  Scottish Enterprise is Scotland’s main economic, enterprise, innovation and investment agency.  Douglas has worked in Scotland’s technology industries for the last 20 years and is currently leading activity in the sustainable transport and intelligent transport sectors.
