Hesham M. Ghashat graduated from the Academy of Maritime Studies (Tripoli ‐ Libya). In Dec. 1997 he finished the basic studies of navigation, then he worked as deck officer with GNMTC. In September 2000, he was awarded a 2nd officer rank from the Academy and Bachelor Degree in the field of Marine Navigation. From May 2001 to September 2005 he worked with the Germa Shipping Company in Libya. In 2007, he obtained his MSc in Marine Transport with Management form Newcastle Upon Tyne University. During 2008, he worked with the National Oil Corporation of Libya Marine Transport Department. Currently, he studying for a PhD in Port Devolution and Performance at Edinburgh Napier University. He is a member of IAME. He is also a regular writer of a column entitled "strategic vision" at one of the leading Libyan newspapers.
