Andrew MacIver is a Lecturer in Transportation Engineering in the School of Engineering and Built Environment. He has a BEng (Hons) and PhD in Transportation Engineering, both from Edinburgh Napier University, and was a Research Assistant and Lecturer/Senior Lecturer at the university from 1989-97.  His PhD, supported by J Sainsbury plc, investigated the traffic impact of new retail developments.  From 1998 – 2004 he was a professor in the Department of Civil Engineering at the University of Calgary in Canada and a member of the Transportation Theme School.  In 2001, he spent a sabbatical teaching at Hong Kong Polytechnic University.  From 2001 – 2003 he served on the Board of Directors of ITS Canada.  Before returning to Edinburgh Napier in 2008 he was a Principal Transportation Engineer with SIAS Ltd in Edinburgh, including a secondment to Transport Scotland.
