Gordon Wilmsmeier is Senior Research Fellow at TRI. He holds a masters degree in geography, transport planning and informatics Currently, he is Project Leader of the Northern Maritime University (NMU) Project which is developed as part of the NorthSea Region Interreg IVb Programme. 

 

He is an internationally recognized expert in maritime transport and port development issues and has worked as consultant to the Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean (ECLAC), UNCTAD, UN-OHRLLS, The World Bank, Andean Development Fund (CAF), InterAmerican Development Bank (IDB), UNDP, Organisation of American States (OAS), IIRSA and the Ministry of Economy - El Salvador. Gordon has worked in projects in 20 of the 33 countries in Latin America and Caribbean over the last 8 years. Since 2010 Gordon is invited lecturer at the Instituto de Telecomunicaciones, Transporte y Puertos - ITTP, Bogota, Colombia.

 

Gordon has collaborated in various EU projects for DG Trade and DGTREN in the 5th, 6th and 7th Framework Programme.

 

He is also a member of the Transport Working Group of the German Association of Geographers, the International Association of Maritime Economists (IAME), the Port Performance Network (PPRN) and associate member of the PortEconomics.eu initiative.
