TRI's maritime researchers working on the Dryport project have begun making visits to Scottish ports to discuss port development plans and the possibilities of instituting new intermodal operations. Two visits have so far been made, the first to the Babcock facility in Rosyth (Thursday 15th January 2009) and the second to the Forth Ports facility in Grangemouth (Friday 16th January 2009).

Discussions were held with the operators of both ports, leading up to an official interview for the purposes of the Dryport project. Site visits were also carried out, with TRI researchers Prof Alf Baird and Gordon Wilmsmeier inspecting various aspects of the ports' infrastructure and operations. The project team will continue working with Babcock, Forth Ports, and other stakeholders to fully explore Scotland's potential for a dryport facility.
