Gordon Wilmsmeier presented on three separate themes. The first, presented with Prof. Inmaculada Martinez-Zarzoso (Universidad de Jaime I), looked at trade responses to freight rates and the downward trend of Latin American maritime trade. The second talk, presented with Theo Notteboom (Antwerp University), analysed the determinants of liner shipping network configuration by comparing two regions, the west coast of South America and Northern Europe. The third presentation, given alongside Sebastián Faúndez (UNECLAC), Gabriel Pérez (UNECLAC), and Ricardo J. Sánchez (UNECLAC), focused on the impact of varying commodity freight rates.
