The Transport Research Institute has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the United Nations Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean (UNECLAC). This memorandum will allow our two organisations to cooperate on a variety of projects and other exercises aimed at improving the economy of Latin America and the Caribbean.

TRI is able to bring to the partnership its wide-ranging experience in transport research projects, garnered at the UK, European, and international level. In addition, TRI can boast the skills of senior research fellow Gordon Wilmsmeier, who has worked on numerous projects in Latin America, including as a consultant to the UN and World Bank.

Cooperation between TRI and UNECLAC (as well as ITMMA – the Institute of Transport and Maritime Management, Antwerp) recently resulted in a successful bid to host the 2011 Annual Conference of the International Association of Maritime Economists (IAME) in Santiago, Chile.
