Taxi Studies Group

The TRI Taxi Studies Group is one of a number specialist groups within TRI with a specific interest in the development of and application of the science of taxicabs worldwide. 

Taxis are significant to the development of integrated transport and have potential to play a wider role in public transport as a part of both traditional and novel approaches to long-standing access problems. The TRI has worked at all levels of government and with the taxi industry in the development of taxi services and has been key to the implementation of current approaches to taxi licensing and control in Scotland.

The taxi studies group has provided advice to the Department for Transport, City authorities including Edinburgh and Glasgow, and to industrial partners including Glasgow Taxis Ltd., and the Taxi Operators Associations across Scotland.
